Informed Consent and Evaluation Plan

Evaluation Plan: Book Club App
Test:
Testing the usability of the Book Club application for smart phones.
The testing will hopefully uncover whether any basic usability principles have been overlooked, and whether the application does the task as users would expect it to. Specifically, does the user understand how to operate the UI without needing any verbal explanation during the process, and are there any frustrating (severe) aspects of the interface that could be improved.
The test will take place the afternoon of July 5 with three test subjects, ranging in age from 13 to 45. Each test should take approximately 15 minutes.
User tasks:
  •  Launch and log into the app
  •  Select a club, then a book within that club
  •  Create and delete a club
  •  Create and delete a book
  •  When opening a club, visually determining approximately how much of a book has been read
User response will be measured by:
    Think‐aloud protocol during the test
    Time‐to‐completion for each task
    Error count for each task
User survey regarding ease of completing each task (1‐5 Likert scale)
    Outline:
    Meet & Greet

STUDY TITLE: BookClub App Evaluation
DESCRIPTION: You are invited to participate in a research study on a new software application. The phone app is for a book club‐type of experience using ebook readers.
