The Benefits Of Fibre Optic Cable Installation

By Cornelia White

There are many benefits to the use of fiber optics for the transmission of data. This is a system used for the delivery of cable television and for surfing the Internet. Many businesses can choose to a fibre optic cable installation for an internal network. They offer a great solution to solving problems that can occur with communications in areas where data transfer is lacking.

Most sorts of information that is sent and appropriated by a workstation is going over standard wires. This can incorporate standard Ethernet links and basic copper wires. Information that is sent over these wires will regularly go at a moderate speed. The primary excuse for why filament optics are not utilized as a part of standard requisitions is the expense is too high. A workstation does not have to exchange any information to a local printer at quick speeds.

The expense of adding cables that move knowledge at gentle rate is usually also costly. For this reason several areas however have mainstream wiring thats applied to move data and Net traffic. But, several areas in large filled places may benefit from quickly move rates as gradual rates tend to be perhaps not sufficient. Many instances communications businesses are adding fibre optics.

One of the main benefits of fibers used for optical wires means interference is not an issue. Wiring that is made of copper needs to have a layer of insulation added for protection. Electricity will often be why cabling in certain areas have increased interference. Most times this issue can be addressed by using an assortment of shielding in the form of insulation.

The fundamental cabling that is utilized for telephone lines that convey Internet activity can experience ill effects of downsizing. The paramount component to remember about minimizations is the commotion that exists in the wire. This is the main reason the wire lines in a building or a private home ordinarily need to have a channel. A channel will differentiate commotion in a wire when utilizing a workstation or phone.

Yet another facet of fiber optics which have been fitted in a place that is difficult to tap. Cables that are manufactured from a wire can produce magnetic fields. A magnetic subject thats made by a cable may become simple to intercept the signal. Cables which are visual materials do have no magnetic fields. For this reason a signal cant easily be intercepted by various people.

Copper wires that are used to transmit data need to be thicker and more rigid than optical cables. There is a significant amount of transmission capacity achieved using optical wires that is not available using traditional copper wires. One thing to remember about a thick copper wiring is it can often be difficult when it may need to be installed in a building.

A fundamental fibre optic cable installation is much less demanding than introducing a standard wire. Optical cabling can regularly be introduced in regions that are not pragmatic for copper wires. This will mean the expense for numerous entrepreneurs will be much lower than different results. One purpose behind this is optical links are lightweight and typically adaptable.

The Incredible Hulk

Marvel Entertainment seemingly cant go wrong. Theyve published hugely successful comic book franchises (The X-Men, The Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, countless others) and have had tremendous success with movie adaptations of those comic books (Iron Man has grossed over $311 million so far, according to Rotten Tomatoes).  Sadly, things go downhill quickly once you enter the world of video game adaptations.

There are a few words most gamers hate to hear when it comes to video games: "movie tie-in" is one; "console port" is another.  With Segas The Incredible Hulk for PC, gamers get the worst of both worlds: a bad movie tie-in and a horrible console port.

On the heels of the recently released Iron Man video game (Metacritic average score of 44 out of 100), The Incredible Hulk is wreaking havoc on the PC, but not in a good way.

The games plot vaguely ties in with the film, with some moments of the film recreated, but the majority of the game is sandbox style, with the player in Manhattan, free to roam about the city as the Hulk, scaring pedestrians, smashing taxi cabs, or taking missions.

The Incredible Hulk features voice acting by the stars of the film: Edward Norton as Bruce Banner, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, William Hurt as General Ross, and Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky.  This is perhaps the one good thing about this game.

First off, lets get this out of the way: the graphics are horrible.  Ugly.  This seems to be a port of the PS2 version.  The Hulk himself is the only element nicely textured and animated.  Everything else is plain.  The PC port of Spider-Man: The Game from 2002 did a better job of presenting a believable Manhattan.  This Manhattan is sparsely populated (and you see the same NPC characters all over the place) with some vehicles driving around the streets.  Yes, there are lots of buildings but they are just sort of there.  Couldnt we have gotten some reflective window textures on those buildings? It would have been nice to see sunlight reflected off of those windows.

There are no adjustments to be made for the games graphics; the only thing you can change is the games resolution.  This is a game that has not heard of such things as HDR lighting and normal mapping.  Believe me, this is not the game to show off on your killer gaming rig.  Id go as far as to say 2003s video game tie-in of Ang Lees The Hulk is a better looking game, and thats a game using an engine thats over five years old.

You can control the Hulk with a mouse and keyboard, but the best option is a game controller (I used the Xbox 360 wireless controller for Windows), this being a console port and all.

Most missions seem to revolve around the Hulk battling various armies, while tossing in video game standards like escort missions, protect a Person of Importance, etc.  It all gets a bit repetitive after a few minutes.

As you progress you unlock power upgrades, attack combos, and the like.

Most of the environment is destructible, but even thats not much of an incentive to play.  There really is nothing here to enjoy.  Skip this game and see the movie instead.  Better yet, hunt up Amazon or Ebay for a used copy of 2003s The Hulk.

Just off the coast of Papua New Guinea, located south of the Equator and just north of Australia. Until very recently much of the island was wild and primitive and totally untouched by the modern world. Even though the capital, Moresby, was founded by Australian settlers in 1895, many places deep in the interior still have never been seen by western eyes. As a guest of the Royal Palms Resort, the player’s stay was supposed to be a dream holiday; a luxurious getaway to the beautiful beaches of a tropical paradise. But faced with the reality of a zombie apocalypse, there is only one thing left to do: Survive.

Game Of The Yeat Edition Includes:
Dead Island game
Bloodbath Arena
Ryder White
The Ripper (Weapon Blueprint)
This is Dead Island… a paradise to die for…

Terror. Violence. Madness. Bedlam. A holiday paradise gone mad. A tropical island turns into total chaos after a mysterious zombie outbreak. Cut off from the rest of the world, the player’s only chance to survive is to fight to the death and find a way to escape from the island. All of these gameplay features are presented in a dark story inspired by classic zombie movies with a gritty and engrossing campaign that can be played with up to 4 players in co-op mode.

YS The Oath in Felghana

These days I had the chance to play one awesome Japanese game – YS.
The YS series are several RPG games but here I’ll talk only for YS: The Oath in Felghana. I have no background information about the series, so if you are an old YS fan, don’t shoot at me, those are my first impressions only.
The series are centered at the adventures of Adol, our main hero. As every hero, he is cool, his favorite breakfast is fried monsters and of course he has to save the world and the young lady. Yep, there is a beautiful, blondie young lady to be saved.

Gameplay
The game controls are smooth and after some time I actually forgot that the real world is outside the screen. The game world is beautiful but deadly so the players don’t have much time to relax. The average monsters are somewhat easy to be beaten but there are strong boss monsters. During his journey, Adol finds some hidden treasures – powerful artifacts that help him in some tough situations. For example the first boss is unpassable without the Firedragon Amulet. Some places on the map a too high and you can’t reach them unless you use the wind bracelet.

The Story
The game starts with short story as Adol and his friend arrived at Felghana. The game follows the story closely with series of quests that reveal the characters background and motivation. The plot is interesting even without the action but together they form an awesome adventure.

MMORPG
As I heard there is an MMORPG YS Online, currently in Open Beta. I’ll try to learn more and I’ll make a separate post about it. I hope it is as good as the series, I can’t wait to play it!

Building The Chub

The first thing people generally do for Mobile Frame Zero is build mechs, even before reading the rules :-).  If youre not used to building with Lego putting the small parts together in an attractive and functional manner can be frustrating.  Ill try and help by looking at breakdowns of the official frames, naming some parts, and walking through the assembly process.

Heres the breakdown of the Chub that Soren sent me.

The thing that confused me the most was how the arms attached to the body.  The Bar 1L w/Clip Mechanical Claw which attaches to the Tap 1x1 inside the torso is a little hard to see in the photos of the assembled mech.  It drove me nuts for the longest time. Before I received the assembly instructions I even came up with an alternate attachment device using Minifig Utensil Handlebars.

Heres a look at the base model that I assembled.

Can everyone see how that goes together?

Heres a few variations on the theme.

UMFL 4th (Syrene) Brigade, Recon Commandos by Jed September.  As always this shows good use of color, main and accents, and additional parts to change the look from the base model.  If you take a close look at the head, you can see its attached a little differently than the standard model.

Blue Squad by Viro-M.  An excellent variation on the head along with a unified color scheme.

Red Unit "Kingfisher" by Ironsniper.  And here we can see where Viro-M got the inspiration for the heads on his mechs.

Salvage Chub by Ross Varn.  This shows good use of putting together a mech with the parts that you have on hand.

ST07W-WACKY by SchoonPine.  This shows how adding parts to a basic Chub frame can change the look of the frame.

Commander Foss Custom ST-10 by Joshua A.C. Newman.  Here we see one of the first Chub mods by one of the creators of Mobile Frame Zero.  It uses additional parts and a unified color scheme to set it apart from the base model.

Legionnaire Koenigs ST-07 by Joshua A.C. Newman.  Another Chub mod by J.  Not that heavily modified, just a variant chest piece and an altered head.  An extra weapon and a unified color scheme help to make it different.

Hopefully this gives everyone a good look at how the Chub frame is assembled and some ideas on how to modify it to make your frames more unique.

The Contest Results

The poll for the contest closed on Friday, with entry #1 way in the lead. Entry #1 was amazing, really, and Nicole H., who submitted it, clearly put a lot of work into it and deserves the $25 Amazon giftcard I sent her yesterday.

However, I wrote in the post, that I didnt want this to be a popularity contest, but that is quickly what it became when an anti-me site encouraged everyone to come vote for #1. Oddly enough, my readers really liked entry #3. Why is it fair for people who dont like me to got to decide the fate of my childrens room when I was giving the choice over to my readers, who went for entry #3?

Heres a breakdown of what went on the comments.

There were 63 comments.

There were 19 comments for entry #3.

There were 13 comments for entry #1.

The other comments were a mix of support for other entries and various general suggestions.

There was a recurring suggestion of combining #1 and #3, so that is what I am going to do.

I am still trying to work out the exact spacing of the four-tier bunk and Im thinking of making it three-tiered with a trundle and am considering how to fit a small platform below the bottom bunk if it stays four-tiered.

Since it is unclear who would have won had there not been interference, I sent out a bonus $5 gift card to the runner up, Entry #3.

Mattresses, Mattresses, Mattresses

As some of you who keep up on the gossip forums know, I recieved the mattress from a reader. Sending something for my boys was a kind gesture. It was a crib mattress, though, and I am building the bunk beds to different dimensions. We are planning on keeping Thomas in our bed until he is ready to join the boys in the big-boy-bed. Thus, I am selling the mattress and any money we get will be put toward the boys room.

Credit for the Entries:

Entry #1 - Nicole H

Entry #2 - Christena

Entry #3 - Andrea M

Entry #4 - Emily (me)

Entry #5 - Pattys husband

More credit for more entries:

Im going to do an idea round-up including the neat ideas I got in the form of submissions. It may even turn into a short series because there were so many good ideas. If those who submitted an entry have a blog and would like some linky-love, please send me the address to your blog from the same email address you sent the submission. Then, when I showcase your neato idea, Ill include a link to your blog so people can see some of your other neato thoughts and ideas.

Fuji XQ1 Review – Part 2 – The Lens CA and distortion and Lightroom’s ability to deal …

I’ve noticed two things about the XQ1’s lens so far: it has a significant amount of uncorrected CA – harkening back to the days of the early F series – and it has significant and partially uncorrectable distortion in raw.

The CA is quite visible, although thankfully it is not as bad as the original F series lenses because it does not devolved into their horrific purple fringing around lights. Still, it is a bit painful.

A great example comes from the Christmas Craft show, which I wrote in part 1 of the series would be the subject of part 2. But I have decided to push it to part 3. The example shows CA quite clearly in the OOC JPEG (downsized here.)

fuji xq1  400iso  f/2  1/60  4.6mm

The CA at 100% looks like this, and you can see that it has the blue-yellow and the red-green forms:

But is can be completely corrected in RAW, as shown here:

While it’s not absolutely perfect, it’s close enough for any practical use.

Here are the settings that I used on the raw conversion … the settings are complete and the CA is specifically handled in the bottom right corner …

As always, click on the image to get the expanded version.

And if that isn’t quite clear enough, then here is an animation of the two juxtaposed. And note the distortion, which I have managed to match with –12 on the distortion slider (adds barrel to counteract severe pincushion.) But Fuji also stretches the sides out slightly, which adds enough complexity so that I cannot handle it in Lightroom.

This is unfortunate, since complex distortions can be easily corrected by adding markup to the raw image. The distortions and CA are then automatically removed by the raw converter. Panasonic does this for all of their cameras and it makes them extremely convenient to shoot in either raw or JPEG. Oh well …

And once more, close up to get the full effect of the CA and the distortion …

Remember to click on these to see them full-sized.

I consider the lens issues minor … the distortion is corrected perfectly in JPEG and adequately in raw using Lightroom. The CA is minor in JPEG and easily eliminated in raw.

I won’t comment in detail on sharpness, but so far I get a good impression.
